Did that happen? Elizabeth actually left Hope Valley, and with good reason, to save her son, but it was something we thought we’d never see happen.
While When Calls the Heart Season 12 has significantly improved, certain things are still lacking, which was apparent in the season finale.
Nathan, Elizabeth, and Allie’s drama was still center stage on When Calls the Heart Season 12 Episode 12, with the hunt for the gold as the other main storyline.
Everyone else seemed like pop-up characters, while some necessary characters were missing from this episode.
Now That Lucas and Edie have Found the Gold, Will They Get a Happy Ending?
Hope Valley’s finest finally found the gold. It kind of seemed like Bill, Rosemary, and Nathan became the three musketeers throughout this mission.
She had the ideas, and they had the muscle, but it was amusing that they realized it was located at the wishing well when Lucas and Eddie found Ernie’s pennies that she used to toss in the well.
My gut says that Edie didn’t didn’t know about the gold, and Ernie hid things well.
He was a well-meaning man who wanted to provide for his niece.
I wonder what will happen next in Lucas and Bill’s lives. They had much at stake in solving this case.
Now that Lucas was recalled as Governor and they all found the gold, will they keep Edie Martel as his love interest, or did she serve her purpose?
I liked her and thought she was a good intellectual match for him, so I would like to see her again, but we’ll have to see what the writer’s plans are.
Maybe Edie could use some of the gold to help the ranchers and go into business with Lucas.
Everyone Deserves a Carefree Childhood and a Chance at Happiness
Since Oliver grew up in foster care, he developed strong work habits, but he never got to act like a kid until he came to Hope Valley.
Elizabeth understood that Oliver would be hesitant to leave the only place he’d ever felt at home, even if he had a better offer.
Some of that was because she and Nathan welcomed him; some of it was because he made true friends and fell for Allie.
Nathan finally realized their connection when Oliver and Allie finished each other’s sentences and were so proud of their teamwork on the wildlife project.
Neither Nathan nor Elizabeth noticed that Allie had moved on from Wyatt to crushing on Oliver, but I think Nathan would approve.
He’s seen how Oliver has matured. Hopefully, we’ll see more of him in the future.
He’s one of the few new characters I liked, and I feel there’s so much more to learn about him.
Hope Valley’s Children Graduate and That Means Hard Changes
Angela, Timmy, and Emily graduated, and while I appreciated the quick update on the three children, I felt that Emily and Timmy got shafted.
We barely heard anything about their plans, only that Timmy revealed his feelings for Emily.
I wanted to know if Emily decided to work for Henry’s hazelnut business and felt his absence was lacking.
He had been such a strong mentor as she blossomed this season, and I thought Henry should have been at the graduation. He’s always been fond of the Hope Valley children.
Hopefully, if When Calls the Heart gets renewed, we’ll see more of Emily and Timmy’s relationship blossom since I suspect we’ll only see occasional check-ins with Angela at the Schwartzman School.
Angela’s moving so far away was difficult for Minnie, even though she was proud that her daughter had succeeded.
I love that Hope Valley has such a tight-knit community that Minnie’s friends noticed her apprehension and thought of a sweet surprise that both mother and daughter would appreciate.
Making Angela a quilt with patches of her favorite things in different textures was such a sweet idea.
I don’t care what period it is. A homemade quilt is appreciated to remind you of your family and friends.
Elizabeth Is Forced to Make Difficult Choices Regarding Little Jack’s Healthcare
Diabetes is a complicated condition. When the insulin or other medication works, it’s easy to forget you even have it as you have an everyday life.
That’s what happened with Elizabeth and Little Jack. His health was thriving as he returned to playing baseball with his friends.
He acted like a happy little boy who seemed proud that he knew about his treatment.
Even though Little Jack was young, it was a fantastic idea that he understood how insulin worked and how important it was.
Since I have diabetes, understanding the treatment is half the battle, and treatments have evolved so much in 100 years.
My heart broke for Elizabeth and Little Jack so many times since he was diagnosed at the end of When Calls the Heart Season 12 Episode 10.
It was hard for her to think of herself and her dreams when she only wanted her son to survive. Elizabeth was tired of being strong, yet she struggled to lean on her loved ones.
She’s used to helping others instead. Nathan wanted her to lean on him, but she was used to having the sole responsibility of caring for Little Jack. It’s a difficult habit to break.
Elizabeth felt torn since her mother-in-law wrote about a new insulin lab in Cape Fullerton.
She swore she would never leave Hope Valley, but when Jack relapsed, she had no choice.
Elizabeth loves Hope Valley and living next to Rosemary. When Lucas left for politics, she refused to leave the town but would risk everything to save Little Jack’s life.
It was heartbreaking watching her leave her house and possibly everyone she loved. We’re grateful that Nathan and Allie chose to follow her.
Even if it wasn’t official, those four have become a family, and faith and family will help Little Jack heal faster.
