Trust on Sai more than Buttler

Initially, when Gujarat Titans brought in Jos Buttler, an explosive opener, the team showed more trust in Sai Sudharsan over Buttler. Everyone was surprised, with many wondering what Gujarat was trying to do. However, Sudharsan has not disappointed anyone and has delivered consistent performances against opponents, scoring with a strike rate of 150.7 across 3 matches, while Buttler is coming in at number 3.

Sai Sudharsan on playing above Jos Buttler

In an interview with TOI, talking about the team’s trust in him over Jos Buttler, Sai shared, “To be honest, when I first heard that I was opening, I was really happy. I also gained more confidence from them giving me that responsibility, especially when we have an explosive opener like Jos Buttler. It gave me a lot of confidence and freedom, knowing that we have a lot of batting depth and experienced batters coming after me. So, I feel that has given me more freedom to express myself.”
