Queen Mathilde of Belgium oozes glamour in a blue gown with a shimmering cape as she attends a State Banquet in Brussels for the Sultan of Oman
She rarely puts a fashion foot wrong – and Queen Mathilde of Belgium didn’t disappoint last night as she attended a State Banquet in Brussels for the Sultan of Oman.
Joined by her husband, King Philippe, at the Palace of Laeken, the 51-year-old royal commanded attention in a blue sleeveless, floor-length gown teamed with a gem-encrusted navy cape.
Wearing an official sash and necklace, the glamorous mother-of-four posed up a storm with the Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, before they enjoyed a sit-down dinner at the lavish castle.
The Sultan of Oman, who is also the Prime Minister, is undertaking a two-day state visit to Belgium.
For last night’s occasion, Queen Mathilde finished her eye-catching ensemble with shimmering heels and a matching blue clutch bag.
She added an extra level of glitz to her outfit with her sparkling array of jewellery, including a dazzling tiara and diamond drop earrings.
Her husband looked equally smart in his military uniform, whilst the Sultan of Oman donned a traditional ensemble.
Keeping her hair pinned into an elegant up-do, the Belgium Queen completed her look with a smattering of glamorous makeup, including a bright red lip.

Last month, Queen Mathilde proved she was every bit the maternal figure as she read a book to a group of children during a school visit.
The royal put on a stunning display as she arrived to read to a group of children at Desire Van Monckhoven elementary school in Ghent.
Mathilde – who attended without the company of her husband King Philippe – sported a stylish royal blue suit as she arrived at the school in the north of Belgium.
During the week, Ghent elementary school hosted the DITO vzw, an organisation of and for people with disabilities.
The organisation works to help provide equal opportunities for disabled people, helping them to participate in society – one of them being encouraging them to read aloud in schools.
As Mathilde stepped out at the elementary school, she was greeted with a beautiful bouquet of white flowers with dark purple centres.
The royal donned an all blue suit in a relaxed fit with loose fitting trousers and an oversized blazer.
Beneath her stylish suit, the queen wore a simple white t-shirt, offering a casual touch to the otherwise glamorous ensemble.

Mathilde wore her bright blonde tresses down and wore her typical natural makeup look with a soft base and subtle pink lip.
Polishing the look off, she wore a set of white floral earrings that complimented her simple white tee.
Draped over her shoulders, the queen wore a long cream jacket with the outlines of flowers stitched onto the soft material.
During the visit, the queen was seen sliding on a pair of reading glasses, before sitting down to read to the youngsters.
The little ones listened intently as Mathilde focused her attention onto reading to them. At one point, she was pictured turning the book towards the children so they could get a better look at the pictures.
Mathilde shares four children with her husband, King Philippe, with whom she has been married to since 1999.
The two share Princess Elisabeth, 23, Prince Gabriel, 21, Prince Emmanuel, 19 and Princess Eléonore, 16.
