First ODI highlights, results, latest updates; Xavier Bartlett takes wicket in ‘perfect’ debut over; Josh Inglis tests positive to COVID-19; Victorian duo snubbed of home international debut

Uncapped Victorian duo Jake Fraser-McGurk and Will Sutherland will almost certainly be snubbed of home international debuts.

The pair are two of four uncapped guns in Australia’s 13-man squad to take on the West Indies at the MCG today.

While Sutherland made the initial squad, Fraser-McGurk just missed out and was added later as cover for Glenn Maxwell.

Fast bowlers Lance Morris and Xavier Bartlett are the other uncapped players in the squad, with both expected to debut in Melbourne.

Speaking on Thursday, Smith said the batting lineup would more or less resemble the one that won the Aussies the world cup.

“We’ll keep it consistent I suppose and with myself and Marnus (Labuschagne) at four and five like the World Cup and then we’ll probably see some guys having an opportunity up top and mixing matching a little bit,” Smith said.

“With the guys we’ve got in the squad, we’ve got some versatility there so it should be exciting.”

Fraser-McGurk shot to prominence as a 17-year-old when he made half-centuries in both his Sheffield Shield and Marsh Cup debuts.

But it’s probably his world record century for South Australia against Tasmania last October he’s best known for.

He belted 100 off just 29 balls – shaving two deliveries off AB de Villiers’ previous one-day record.

He also blasted the fastest-ever half-century in Australian 50-over cricket, taking just 18 balls.

Final confirmation of the team will come at the toss.
