DC captain Axar Patel provides big update on injury after batting through pain

Axar remains hopeful to be fit for the SRH vs DC clash in Hyderabad.
Delhi Capitals skipper Axar Patel has issued a positive update regarding his injury. Patel batted with discomfort during the DC vs KKR game, which eventually ended in defeat. The all rounder had earlier hurt his palm while practicing, but is confident of returning to full fitness soon.
Axar bats through pain, expects to be fit for SRH clash
Axar Patel has struggled with niggles all through IPL 2025. Earlier in the season, the all-rounder had hurt his finger, restricting his ability to bowl. Now, Axar is struggling with another injury. The Delhi Capitals captain hurt his palm after putting in a dive on one of the practice wickets.
The left-hander thus had to bat through pain in the DC vs KKR clash. With his side chasing 205, Axar chipped in with a valuable knock leaving his side in control. Despite injury, Patel smashed a quickfire 43 before being dismissed by Sunil Narine. The DC skipper struggled with his grip throughout the game, but offered an optimistic timeline on recovery.
“My skin got peeled off as I dived on the practice wickets to stop the ball, but the good thing is there are 3-4 days break and hopefully I will be able to recover,” Axar said after the game.
Chance for DC, Axar to regroup
Delhi Capitals played two games in a short span but will now regroup in Hyderabad for their game against Sunrisers Hyderabad. With a couple of days between games, the franchise will hope to get its campaign back on track. After 4 wins in their first 4 games, DC have managed to win only 2 of their next 6. Axar will hope that he can rally his team around and get them through to the playoffs.
Axar himself meanwhile, will hope to brush of his injury. After a slow start to the campaign, the DC skipper has turned up with ball in hand in the last couple of games. Patel has promoted himself up the order to take more responsibility with the bat, and will need to close games out in the future.
