22 Fictional Couples Who Definitely Broke Up Post Credits

You don’t need to be a serial monogamist to know that real love isn’t ever like the movies. There are vanishingly few kisses in the rain. It’s frowned upon to leave your bra on during sex. If anybody ever shows up outside your house thrusting a boom box aloft, that’s a sign that you should move.

But some fictional couples aren’t even ostensibly romantic — they’re clearly doomed from the start. Redditor Th3mberchaud realized that after watching Pretty Woman. “They are for sure tanked,” they told r/AskReddit. “He’ll get bored, she’ll flounder in being a ‘kept’ woman and not like feeling pent up.”

They then asked, “Which fictional ‘happily ever after’ couple definitely breaks up, and why?” and considerable amounts of heartbreak followed.
