In 1968, the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey depicted that in 2001, we’d have crewed spacecraft that can venture to Jupiter and supercomputers with artificial general intelligence. These predictions didn’t come true. In 1982, Blade Runner showcased a dystopic 2019 Earth with flying cars, advanced holographic technologies, and AI replicants nearly indistinguishable from humans. Those forecasts missed the mark.
