Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians are playing the 41st game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 wearing black armbands. Players from both sides have taken the field with the black bands to express their condolences for the people killed in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir.
Why are SRH and MI players are wearing black armbands?
The players from both the teams, wore black armbands in Wednesday’s IPL match to honor the victims, who lost their lives in the recent terrorist attack. A minute of silence was also observed before the match began as part of the tribute. Additionally, there were be no cheerleaders at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
Both captains expressed their grief during the toss. Pat Cummins said, “It has been heartbreaking for us as well, our thoughts are with the victims and their families.” On the other hand, Hardik Pandya said, “I would like to pass my condolences to the victims of the terrorist attack.”
