Some relationships work harmoniously like a symphony, whereas others are filled with dysfunctional secrets.
Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2 Episode 4 highlighted many problematic relationships, though Wolfie and Tina’s relationship was most on display.
However, it also dove into the control and power dynamics of several other relationships, including Victoria and Imogen.
This was the most enjoyable episode since it combined angsty and dysfunctional relationships with entertaining antics while the guests were high.
While this was Wolfie and Tina’s backstory, this installment still featured enough of everyone else. It felt like an ensemble, while some of the previous episodes felt like they only focused on select characters.
The O’Clair Women and Sharpe Men Have Different Priorities
Since Nine Perfect Strangers began, Imogen and Peter have been coupled together, even though they originally attended this retreat to fix their issues with their parents.
While Peter’s issues with David aren’t as overt as Imogen’s with Victoria, it was apparent that Peter strived to please his father. First, he tried to impress him by making Imogen look like a smart girlfriend, not a one-night stand.
Peter looked skilled at mediating, trying to pacify Imogen and her mom, admitting that being a parent and a child must be difficult.
That was the biggest problem. While he was attracted to Imogen, he still wanted to spend quality time with his father and thought she should do the same with her mom.
Unfortunately, Victoria hasn’t told Imogen about her medical issues, so after Imogen finally agreed to a girls’ night and found her mom passed out, she assumed her mom ditched her and got drunk.
David only spent a few minutes with his son and assumed that was enough, thinking Peter would rather get lucky with Imogen.
These two families have sent so many mixed messages, and need to communicate soon before causing more pain.
I enjoyed how Imogen and Tina conversed about their relationship issues since they had not interacted much. That’s one thing I love about this season — the interesting friendships.
The Musical and Comedy Bits Added to Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2 Episode 4
I complained that the first few episodes of Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2 were too serious. With Episode 4, the series finally balanced the hallucinations and musical comedy better.
Masha even commented that they adjusted the doses so the guests would be more uninhibited.
Some things were hilarious, like Agnes nuzzling Imogen’s arm while she was high, since nuns don’t typically behave that way, and Brian gently pulling her away. He’s grown very protective of her.
The musical moments were the best part. Tina’s nightmare of getting attacked by the piano reminded me of a horror movie combined with a performance nightmare.
Almost everyone fears getting laughed at by their partner.
However, despite Tina’s running out of the party, Martin managed to create a rocking dance party, and he had such great moves, I wondered how high he was.
The series needs more of those group dance scenes, which allowed the guests to let loose and interact with each other.
Wolfie and Tina Played in Alternating Symphonies
Wolfie and Tina’s story was heartbreaking since neither shared their true feelings until it was too late.
Initially, I thought Tina’s nightmare was when she was high on psychedelic drugs, but she was terrified to play for everyone. Only Wolfie looked at ease as the violin maestro.
Their story demonstrated how different they were and how their dreams had changed.
Wolfie believed that she should care for Tina since they were a couple, but Tina found it suffocating that Wolfie was always there, even in her dreams.
That’s a fine line since I love being looked after when I’m ill, but I’m usually a capable woman.
The two of them met and began dating because Wolfie believed they were passionate about music and each other.
They both made mistakes since then. We still don’t know if an incident caused Tina to stop playing, or if she grew tired of being the prodigy with no voice and quit.
Initially, I sided with Wolfie because she seemed nurturing, and Tina kept pushing her away. However, Tina (King Princess) won me over when she asked Wolfie if she could love her as she was, as a normal person.
That was such a heartbreaking, honest plea, and my heart broke for her when Wolfie rejected her, even though it was partly her fault since their relationship seemed like a facade.
Wolfie wanted to live in that world after her scholarship had been taken away, whereas Tina wanted to live in everyday life. I’m unsure if these two will survive.
Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2 Episode 4 Revealed David’s Importance
It’s always been about way more than David’s money to Masha. She would love it if his billions could save the resort, but she contacted him for a more personal reason, which could scar them both.
That cliffhanger implied that David was Tatiana’s father, but he had never known his daughter before she died. If he knew he had a daughter and had only met her ghostly form now, that would crush him.
It would also imply that he could see ghostly visions like Masha can. We’ll learn more about David and Masha’s past soon, including why Helena thought bringing him back was dangerous.
Was it only because he didn’t know about his daughter, or are there more lurking secrets?
