A two-year-old cabin, with three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms, on a 0.39-acre lot at a ski resort
The Horizon Cabins form a neighborhood in Summit Powder Mountain, a 10,000-acre development at Powder Mountain that broke ground in 2017. This ski-in, ski-out house, one of 14 completed so far (there will ultimately be 30), is being sold with its furnishings. It sits at an elevation of 9,000 feet, about 60 miles north of Salt Lake City International Airport and 80 miles northwest of Park City.
Designed by Brian MacKay-Lyons, a Canadian architect, the Horizon cabins are positioned near their neighbors for sociability (the project grew out of Summit, an event conference and community), but are oriented for privacy of views and appreciation of sunsets. Among the group, this house will be closest to a clubhouse, for which foundation work has begun, and a ski beach, an outdoor social space with a firepit and heat lamps.

Indoors: Like all of the buildings in this steeply pitched and frequently snowy community, the cedar-sided cabin is entered on its upper level, by way of a bridge. Inside is a living room with radiant-heated dark concrete floors; a vaulted, cedar-paneled ceiling; a super-efficient wood-burning stove; and walls of triple-paned glass imported from Finland. A ladder bolted to a wall covered in metal slats rises to a low-ceilinged loft. On the other side is a white kitchen with quartzite and subway-tile surfaces and a five-burner gas range. There is also a powder room and a laundry room.
The lower level contains a big, minimal master bedroom with cedar trim and an en suite bathroom with a windowed, walk-in shower. Two smaller bedrooms share a bathroom with twin sinks and a tub with a shower head.
Outdoor space: A covered deck off the living room has a built-in grill. The building rests on short stilts that minimize its environmental impact and make it look as if it floats on snow. (In spring, the surrounding area is covered in wildflowers. Once the development is completed it will be backfilled with evergreen trees.) The unit comes with one indoor and one outdoor parking space in a communal garage. Thirty-four miles of hiking, mountain biking and ski trails adjoin it.
