Vijaykumar Vyshak derails Shreyas Iyer Test comeback trail in Duleep Trophy
Since being dropped from the BCCI central contract, this is Iyer’s first red-ball game.
Shreyas Iyer’s return to first-class cricket hasn’t gotten off to a great start. Leading the India D team in the Duleep Trophy, the 29-year-old failed to impress in his red-ball outing since February. After losing the toss, India C decided to have a bowl. The move turned out to be a masterstroke. In the very first over, Anshul Kamboj struck, and captain Shreyas walked into the middle, just 5 balls into the match.
The ball was doing tricks in Anantapur, and the batter from Mumbai was struggling against Vijaykumar Vyshak. Kamboj from the other end wasn’t troubling Shreyas, but Vyshak had him dumbfounded. Shreyas faced just 16 balls, scoring 9 runs. Of these 16, 10 were delivered by Vyshak. The right-arm pacer beat his inside and outside edge multiple times during this short stay and ultimately got him out caught behind on a good length ball just outside off stump, which Shreyas looked to defend.
