Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show fans slam models’ walks as ‘sloppy’ compared to their first runways

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion show made it’s glittering return following a six-year hiatus on Tuesday, and the lingerie brand enlisted a bunch of its former Angels to stomp the runway.

And while many people were happy to see the OGs back on the catwalk, some viewers were quick to slam their walks on social media.

In fact, X, formerly Twitter, was flooded with negative posts regarding some of the returnees’ struts soon after the show kicked off.

One user said Tyra Banks’ walk had become ‘sloppy,’ while another claimed that Adriana Lima’s had gone downhill.

‘Adriana used to walk and strut like her life depended on it. Like the bills were past due. Oh no this ain’t it,’ they wrote.

‘As an [America’s Next Top Model] judge, Tyra would have sent this sloppy walk packing to go home,’ someone else tweeted.

‘Tyra looked a mess and her walk was horrible,’ added another person.

Gigi Hadid also faced scrutiny, with one user branding her walk as ‘trash’ and another slamming her for looking ‘uncomfortable.’

Her younger sister Bella Hadid endured her own fair share of negative comments online.

‘As strong as her walk is, [it] was boring,’ one viewer posted. 

‘Bella Hadid’s walk is not aesthetically pleasing,’ said someone else. 

Candice Swanepoel was bashed for not giving enough ‘personality’ during the show.

‘Does Candice know that a VS runway is the one runway where you can and should smile?’ read another tweet. ‘Let’s see some personality.’

For decades, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was one of the most coveted runway events in fashion.

It first kicked off in 1995 and immediately attracted immense buzz, with some of the biggest models on the globe walking in the fashion show.

By 2001 it was being broadcasted live on television, and each year, millions tuned in to watch the stunning models strut their stuff and the A-list performers dazzle on stage. 

But in 2019, after more than two decades of it reigning supreme, the annual show was canceled amidst immense criticism over the brand’s lack of diversity when it comes to body types before then-chief marketing officer Ed Razek’s eyebrow-raising comments about trans and plus-sized models.

Now, six years later, it’s back – but on top of the model’s walks, the show faced scrutiny online for numerous reasons.

Fans fiercely slammed the event for its pared-back production, lack of glitz, and fake crowd noise – branding it as ‘boring’ and lackluster.
