USA’s Matthew Tkachuk misses most of third period with lower-body injury
The American was sidelined for most of the third period of Saturday’s 4 Nations Face-Off game against Canada. Head coach Mike Sullivan later confirmed that Tkachuk was dealing with a lower-body injury.
He played just three shifts in the final frame, his last coming less than halfway through.
After that, Tkachuk was seen sitting at the end of the U.S. bench, shaking his head as he appeared to tell the coaching staff he wasn’t good to go.

Following the game, Tkachuk told reporters he wasn’t concerned about the injury.
However, with the U.S. already securing a spot in Thursday’s championship game with their 3-1 win over Canada, the team could opt to sit him Monday against Sweden.
The Florida Panthers forward finished the night with 11:10 of ice time, three shots, two hits, and, most notably, a game-opening fight against Canada’s Brandon Hagel.
He registered two goals and an assist in USA’s 6-1 tournament-opening win over Finland.
