This ‘MADtv’ Sketch About iRack and iRan Goes Viral After Returning to Grim Relevance

The United States of America is embroiled in a new military operation in the Middle East that threatens to destabilize the entire region and drag us into another endless, multi-trillion-dollar war, which can only mean one thing — it’s time to buy Apple stock.

Many members of the Millennial-and-above generations who are watching nervously as Donald Trump puts America smack-dab in the middle of the conflict between Iran and Israel can’t shake the sickening feeling that we’ve been down this road before. As President Trump implores the American people to re-think their feelings on the phrase “regime change” while Vice President J.D. Vance swears that, this time, the President in charge of throwing American lives and tax dollars at a foreign entanglement isn’t “dumb,” those of us who lived through the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and other oil-rich, Arab-majority countries are wondering when the makers of MADtv will finally decide that the time is ripe for Season 15.

Following America’s missile attacks on key nuclear sites in Iran this past weekend, a 2007 MADtv sketch featuring series star Michael McDonald parodying the late Apple CEO Steve Jobs in a barely-veiled criticism of American foreign policy began to go viral over its closing joke, a haunting prediction of where Apple would strike next:

Now, of course, anyone who has been paying attention to the last 30 years of American politics knows damn well that our countrys recent attacks on Iran were the result of decades of urging from American conservatives that swift, decisive and destructive military action is needed to prevent the Islamic Republic of Iran from imminently obtaining nuclear weapons. Considering that, according to Trump’s own Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, Iran wasnt in the process of building nukes when the U.S. began launching missiles, perhaps the threat of a nuclear Iran has never been quite as impending as the next iPhone update.

This MADtv sketch just goes to show that Americas current military operation against Iran, which is in a tenuous ceasefire at the moment, isnt a reaction to the current geopolitical situation, but rather the darkly inevitable conclusion to decades of warmongering by the conservative end of our political spectrum.

But, hey, if America is doomed to repeat its last quarter-century of foreign policy mistakes, at least it will be good for Will Sasso’s career.
