The Wheel of Time Season 3 Trailer Finds Several Beloved Characters In Peril

The Wheel of Time continues to spin at Prime Video, and fate might spin in a dastardly direction for some characters if the Season 3 trailer is to be believed.

The sci-fi drama hit a significant snag during The Wheel of Time Season 2, featuring controversial storytelling choices.

Since the series premiere, the issue has been that there aren’t enough episodes in a season to do the novels justice, and it’s hard to imagine that changing any time soon.

But as things stand, the only way is up for The Wheel of Time Season 3, and the latest trailer may compel me to watch the show again.

The footage showcases Rosamund Pike’s Aes Sedai, Moiraine Damodred, who is struggling to come to terms with the visions of the future.

How can she avoid bloodshed when unsure how to approach the prophesized final battle?

It’s quite the conundrum, and it will hang over the season until the battle begins, assuming it’s coming up on The Wheel of Time Season 3.

Hopefully, the Series Avoids a House of the Dragon-like Move

House of the Dragon famously scorned fans by preparing for a massive battle during Season 2, only to have its episode order slashed, and the battle moved to Season 3.

Viewers expect some form of payoff, so the hope is that The Wheel of Time delivers on its promise of this battle.

The hope is that everyone will be able to figure out their enemy’s weaknesses and gain an advantage.

However, the footage leaves many characters in precarious positions, which doesn’t instill much hope that everyone will emerge with their lives to celebrate their likely victory.

Rosamund has done an admirable job as this powerful being who is desperate to do the right thing. Her wisdom and knowledge have been an asset to her team of warriors thus far.

The footage also showcases Rand al’Thor’s (Josha Stradowski) struggle to choose the right path in his quest to fulfill his destiny.

He’s often flirted with darkness, but will he be able to proceed with his wicked ways?

These storylines are some of my favorites on any show because they humanize characters and make them feel more realistic.

There’s Much More Story to Tell

The plot of The Wheel of Time Season 3 is adapted from the fourth book in the novel series, “The Shadow Rising.”

Given that the novel series has 15 (!) books, there’s a good chance it will continue for many more years.

Many fantasy dramas fail because of their high production price tags, thanks largely to CGI, but it seems this series is performing well enough for Prime Video to keep it around for the foreseeable future.

You’re probably wondering when to expect The Wheel of Time Season 3 to premiere.

Prime Video has confirmed Thursday, March 13, is the big date, and we’re getting a three-episode premiere.

After that, episodes will air weekly until the season finale on April 17, 2025.
