‘The View’ star Sunny Hostin got into Donald Trump courtroom

The View cohost and resident legal expert Sunny Hostin fronted a monumental mission into uncharted territory for the talk show, revealing she gained access to the courtroom to witness Donald Trump’s ongoing hush money trial involving alleged payments made to Trump’s alleged mistress, adult film actress Stormy Daniels.

On Friday’s episode of The View, Hostin recounted entering the courtroom to watch Thursday’s proceedings, first recalling what she thought of finally witnessing Trump’s skin tone for the first time in person.

“I have to tell you, it’s a burnt sienna. I’ve never seen him in person. I didn’t realize he was that orange,” she said. “It’s almost like a radioactive orange, and it’s very shocking to see in person. He’s a tall person, he’s also a little thinner, I don’t know if he’s taken the shot.”

She then got into “the tea” she got inside the room, calling Trump “unlike any defendant” she’s ever seen throughout her career as a lawyer before joining the show.

“He’s stretching out like this, fist-bumping with attorneys, he took a little nap. Most defendants do not do that,” she said. “I did not smell the farting. I was sitting downwind but I did not smell the farting yesterday.”

Hostin observed that the “diverse” jury was comprised of more women than men, and that they were all mostly “taking notes and everything” as “one of the most engaged juries” she’s watched.

Comedian and cohost Joy Behar then joked that the show can prove to skeptics that Hostin was in the courtroom, and the show then flashed a mock court sketch on screen that showed Hostin eating popcorn while watching Trump’s trial.

Hostin eventually turned the conversation back to serious matters.

“At the end of all the testimony, jurors were out of the courtroom, Trump’s lawyers argued for a mistrial based on all the salacious stuff that Stormy Daniels said, that they didn’t use a condom — in particular, they were very upset about that,” remembered Hostin. “The judge said, your client, even in your opening statement, you said that the sexual encounter didn’t occur, your client maintains that it didn’t occur. Of course the prosecution had to bring her up on the witness stand to talk about the sexual encounter and the details.”

When the show returned from a commercial break, Hostin added a legal note to her recollection from the day prior: “Trump has pleaded not guilty to falsifying business records, and has denied ever having an affair with Stormy Daniels.”
