EXCLUSIVE: Amazon and Sony Television’s Vought Rising, a prequel of The Boys, has cast Elizabeth Posey (Euphoria, Heels) in a leading and undisclosed role.
She joins Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash, stars and executive producers, who will reprise their original The Boys roles of Soldier Boy and Stormfront, respectively.
Vought Rising was ordered to series by Prime Video last summer with mothership series executive producer Paul Grellong set as showrunner of the one-hour drama offshoot from franchise developer Eric Kripke. Will Hochman will also join the series, according to our sister company Variety.
Kripke and Grellong revealed at the time that the prequel is “a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought.”
Ackles’ Soldier Boy and Aya Cash’s Stormfront have similar origin stories. Soldier Boy is the first American non-aging Supe, created by Frederick Vought during World War II. Stormfront was Frederick Vought’s first successful test subject for Compound V and she married him before they moved to the U.S.
Vought Rising is the latest expansion in The Boys franchise whose flagship series has drawn more than 1 billion viewing minutes weekly in the U.S. alone with the recent release of its penultimate fourth season. Other spinoffs include the animated The Boys Presents: Diabolical, the college-set spinoff Gen V, which is filming its second season, and the upcoming The Boys: Mexico, executive produced by Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal.
Grellong and Kripke executive produce Vought Rising alongside Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Ori Marmur, Pavun Shetty, Ken Levin, Jason Netter, Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson, and Michaela Starr. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, in association with Kripke Enterprises, Point Grey Pictures, and Original Film.
Posey first showcased her skills in HBO Max’s megahit Euphoria, before gaining recognition with her recurring role as Tricia on the Starz series Heels. She was also part of the supporting cast of the feature film Dreamcatchers and the TV short Trevor & The Virgin.
She previously played a young Melanie Griffith in the E! pilot Juicy Stories and shared the screen with Terrence Howard and Amber Heard in the indie film Gully, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. Most recently, Elizabeth starred in the lead role of Resisting Roots, the film adaptation of the popular novel for Passionflix. She is repped by Rebel Creative Group and Artist Collective Entertainment.
