The Best Hidden Perks of Doordash, GrubHub, and Uber Eats Subscription Services

If you haven’t turned on your oven in weeks and your fridge is bare, you’re likely one of the millions of people who order takeout on a regular basis. And when you order using one of the many delivery apps, you’re likely prompted with an offer or two for a discount or even to join that app’s subscription service that promises to save you money in the long run. And sure, it sounds good for saving on takeout, but here’s a fun fact: You can do way more than save on food with some of these subscriptions. Here are the best hidden perks of joining the subscription services for Doordash, GrubHub, and UberEats that act as excellent side dishes to your takeout orders.

The best hidden perk of a DoorDash DashPass subscription: Access to Max

Sure, as a member of DashPass, DoorDash’s subscription service, you get free delivery and exclusive discounts on your food orders. However, in August, the food delivery company announced a new partnership with Max that gives DashPass Annual Plan members access to the streaming service at no additional cost. (Yeah, it’s Max With Ads, but hey, we’ll take it.) “Since launching DashPass six years ago, our goal has always been to deliver increasing value and savings to members,” Prabir Adarkar, the president and chief operating officer at DoorDash, shared in a statement. “Streaming and delivery go hand in hand, and we’re thrilled to launch a coveted benefit for DashPass Annual Plan members.”

Additionally, if you are a SNAP recipient, you get to use your EBT card on SNAP-eligible groceries across more than 6,000 supermarket locations. You also get two months of free DashPass membership.

The best hidden perk of Uber Eats: Earning cash for rides

Uber Eats and Uber share one single subscription service: Uber One. And that combination can prove rather fruitful for those who order takeout and need a ride often. That’s because the subscription service, The monthly subscription, which runs at $9.99 per month or $96 per year, includes a 5% Uber One Credit.

“Whether you spend your Uber Credit on future rides or on Uber Eats orders is up to you,” Uber explained in its updated terms and conditions. (The previous benefit was a 10% ride savings, which was great for those who only used it for the car service but didn’t provide the same benefit for Uber Eats users.) Beyond that, members frequently get generous discount offers (think 40–50% off meals and grocery deliveries).

The best hidden perk of Grubhub: Donation matching

Want to feel really great about your takeout? Try Grubhub+, which offers its members the chance to round up their total bill to the nearest dollar and donate it to different charities. “All donations go to the Grubhub Community Fund, a Donor Advised Fund at a national sponsoring organization. And, all donations from Grubhub+ members are matched by the company,” Grubhub’s website explained. “Through the fund, Grubhub partners with local and national organizations that support independent restaurants, help to close the hunger gap, and create opportunity in the hospitality industry.” As its 2023 Impact Report noted, those donations added up to millions of dollars that went to more than 80 organizations, including the Restaurant Strong Fund, the ACE Foundation, and the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce.
