Daily Roundup 7/2 – The Valley Episode #12, the Luke/Kristen Proposal, Bachelor Season 30 Renewed, & BIP Announces Their July Schedule

You are listening to the Daily Roundup here as part of the Reality C Podcast. I’m your host reality. Steve. Thank you all for tuning in on this Wednesday. As you know, Wednesdays are, let’s review the Valley from last night, so we will talk about episode, I believe 12 of the Valley from last night. It was the engagement of Luke and Kristen.

We’ve also got to talk a little bit about The Bachelor, what’s coming up on tomorrow’s podcast? Weekly podcast. The BIP. Bachelor in Paradise Schedule for July was posted yesterday by the Bachelor in Paradise account. Some interesting things to note there and something we haven’t gotten around to at all.

Maybe I’ll get around to it. Clayton and Rachel Rekia are going to be on a summer show together, not as a couple but together, and we’ll get to all that momentarily. Let’s start with last night’s episode of the Valley. I believe it was episode number 12 and. Of every episode this season of the Valley, it clearly had the least amount of drama.

Now, when last week’s episode ended, they wanted us to believe that there was gonna be this major showdown between Jesse and Aaron. However. The first seven minutes of the episode, they release online like on Monday every week. So you could have already watched what happened between Jesse and Aaron and you realize what they teased us with at the end of last week’s episode was Jesse asking Aaron, did you ever cross boundaries with my wife, either emotionally or physically?

And the episode ends with Aaron’s bugeye looking at ’em. Says to be continued. Well, if you saw the seven minute clip that was released on Monday, we already know. Aaron says No. And Jesse, while he doesn’t seem to believe him, it doesn’t escalate into anything. And in fact, later on in the episode, Jesse and Jason and Aaron are all sitting around and they FaceTime Jacks and it’s like they’re buddy buddies.

So. Again, reality TV wanting you to, wanting to make you think something more is there than what you are, I guess expected to believe. Is there, and I think, again, remember this was all filmed last summer. We’re coming up on a year since this was all filmed.

We’ve heard Jesse in enough interviews say. I remember one specific interview where he said, I think when you see the Hawaii episode, you’ll see Aaron and I have a really good heart to heart, and even in last night’s episode. So even in the moment, even though he was recording those confessionals long after the Hawaii trip, or wasn’t in the moment, he wasn’t talking to Aaron and then they pulled him aside and said, give us your thoughts of what you just said to Aaron.

Clearly this is done weeks, if not months later, but. When Jesse is describing in his confessional the meeting with Aaron and the conversations that he’s having with Aaron, he did say, look, I understand I’ve gotta basically get to a place where I don’t have to be best friends with the guy, but I have to be able to coexist with him for the sake of my daughter.

And it’s just. Such polar opposites of the way Jesse seems to be handling things versus Jacks. Now, Jesse has definitely done some things wrong, 1000% he has, and he has said some things that he shouldn’t. But Jesse comes across as a little bit more intelligent, a little bit smarter than Jacks, and understands what’s at stake here.

Clearly, he’s never going to probably get to a great place with Michelle ever again, but. At least he’s acknowledging, look, I gotta make this work. If anything for my daughter, I understand things with Michelle and I are never gonna be great again, but I have to accept the fact that she’s got this boyfriend and maybe it’s gonna get serious between them and maybe this guy is gonna end up being Isabella’s stepdad.

He didn’t say that, but clearly that’s what he’s processing in his brain that, Hey, this could be a possibility. This guy could be. My daughter’s stepdad in a matter of months, years, whatever. So at least Jesse is acknowledging that, but they really overhyped that conversation. Then again, it’s reality tv. Of course, they’re going to overhype conversations.

I thought one thing that was interesting that they didn’t show last night, even though they showed clips of it, was they have this dinner. The night before Luke is gonna propose to Kristen and they have this dinner and Luke is obviously having a bad night. He’s dealing with a, a sick grandmother and we don’t really get the full details behind that.

So him and Kristen join dinner late and then we hear other people in Confessionals saying, yeah, Luke started going a little off the rails. I think Danny was saying it like. Snorting wasabi up his nose, and then we see a clip. I think this was the next day they were recapping what happened that night. And all of a sudden we find out that Luke was in bed pleading to Kristen saying, you know, I’m just having a rough time.

Can’t you understand that? And then apparently he walked out of their room in just his underwear and he is walking down the hallway at the hotel in just his boxers. It’s like, why couldn’t we get the full story to this? This was much more interesting than some of the other stuff we saw. I guess you, I, I get it.

You had other stuff in the episode you wanted to air, and it was the episode where Luke proposed to Kristen, so maybe they didn’t wanna focus on him kind of crashing out the night before. But I think that would add a little bit to the story, didn’t you? Can we understand why I, this wasn’t just over his grandmother, was it?

He was literally in tears. Telling Kristen and then just so worked up that he had to leave the room and she’s like, Luke, you don’t have, you only have your underwear on. And he is just walking away. So again, for all I know, Luke could have been in the hallway walking down the hallway to go get ice. Who knows?

But they made, but they made it seem like him walking down the hallway in just his underwear. Was a bigger deal than it was, I don’t know. But the way they showed it, they made it seem like Luke was having a really rough night and we just got glimpses of it. I guess I was just, uh, a little bit surprised on that.

As for the engagement itself, they went to great lengths to keep it private. So good for them because there seems to be a lot of blabber mouths in that group. So. They told the right people. Nia and Danny did everything they could. Zach did everything he could back at the hotel, back on the mainland, while Nia and Danny and Luke and Kristen went out on the boat.

They planned it perfectly. Kristen didn’t seem to have any suspicion and it went down kind of the way they wanted it to, other than the whole, Kristen didn’t wanna shower, but she ended up showering, so that ended up not being a big deal. The only thing or issue, and I don’t even know if I would call it an issue I would have with it, is the fact that the moment where he proposes to her, where she turns her back on him to look out for dolphins in the ocean, that Danny and Nia say, Hey, look over there, dolphins, and that was the whole plan.

The problem is they showed us that in the season preview, I don’t know. We all knew at some point this season that Luke and Kristen had gotten engaged. ’cause it was all in the news. We knew it. But that moment I think is something that the audience wanted to see for the first time I. They’ve shown that moment at least two or three times this season.

It was definitely in the season preview. That was, you know, two and a half, three minutes long. I think it was at the end of last week’s episode where they previewed what’s coming up on last night’s episode. So, I don’t know, I, that’s just a thing with me. I, I understand. They wanted to get people to make, Hey, make sure you’re watching next week’s episode because that is the episode where Luke proposes to Kristen.

I don’t know, did you have to show that part? But that could just be me. I could be in the minority on this. Just seem like for a moment like that, maybe you wanna save it. I don’t know. It’s, I dunno. It is what it is. There’s nothing I can do about it. That’s the way the show. The show chose to do it. But if I was directing or I was producing that, I don’t know.

I wouldn’t have given it away in the trailers. I just wouldn’t have. And for the first time all season, is it safe to say that Janet Kana Kaepernick finally did something that seemed like the right decision? Basically, once they found out that this was an engagement party and Luke had proposed to Kristen, they were notified of it.

And Janet made the decision the correct one I might add, and kind of understood. She actually read the room correctly and understood. You know what? When Kristen and Luke arrive back here and everyone surprises them, me and Jason, considering the way things have gone between the four of us all season, Jason and I don’t need to be here for this.

She doesn’t need to see me as one of the first faces. Wishing her happy engagement and surprising her because it doesn’t feel authentic. Zach was right about, yeah, you don’t need to put this shirt on ’cause I don’t think that would be right, but you’re definitely invited to the dinner later. And she even said, you know what?

No, this is her day. I understand that things aren’t great between us. I don’t want to be any negative part of her day. And that was. The best decision and the best thing Janet Karna said all season long. And then we see the previews for next week, and they’re on the boat. And Kristen and Janet are absolutely at each other’s throats.

And Kristen is telling her, get the F off my boat. So the, that lasted a whole, what, 24 hours? The, the love and the. Correct decision making ended up lasting less than a day, seemingly, because next week Kristen and Janet go at it yet again that, Hey, at least we got what we got last night. So congratulations to Luke and Kristen.

I don’t know if you’ve seen the cover of US Weekly this week, but clearly they saved it for the episode airing. The cover of US Weekly is Kristen and Luke with their daughter and an interview with Kristen, exclusive interview. So that was clearly in conjunction with the show and this episode airing of them getting engaged.

And we all know that she’s had a baby. She had it I think two or three weeks ago, and she basically said ba, I think she said in the interview that I read, I skimmed it, but I think she said two weeks after filming ended is when she found out she was pregnant. She just had it a few weeks ago, so just backtrack and do the math.

She probably got pregnant what, around September, roughly, but congratulations to them.
