The Reagans Are a Distant Memory As Boston Blue Rounds Out Impressive Cast
Boston Blue has been one of the more controversial spinoffs in recent memory.
The reason? The prevalent Reagan family was the undeniable draw on Blue Bloods.
Watching the many layers of the different factions of the family set the series apart from most of the other procedurals on CBS.
There were many unhappy fans when news broke that only Donnie Wahlberg would headline the sequel series.
He’s a beloved actor, and his character, Danny Reagan, has a legion of supporters; however, questions have been raised about whether he can anchor a show without the rest of the Blue Bloods ensemble.

There’s every reason to believe that Boston Blue will command a healthy audience because of Danny being the anchor to the original series.
Boston Blue Will Likely Feature Cameos from Blue Bloods Stars
Guest stars will probably appear sporadically to keep OG viewers clued up on what’s happening to their favorites.
The big question, though, is how viewers will warm up to the new family at the center of Boston Blue.
The Silver family will take center stage, and while plot details have been largely kept under wraps, we’re able to put a face to the names thanks to casting news spilling out of the woodwork over the last month.

Sonequa Martin-Green (The Walking Dead, Star Trek: Discovery) will co-lead alongside Donnie, where she’ll play Danny’s new partner, Lena Silver.
The series’ description teases that they’ll have differing viewpoints on cases, which will likely be the source of much of their initial conflict.
On Wednesday, Variety confirmed the casting of Black-ish alum Marcus Scribner, who will take on the role of Jonah Silver.
“Jonah is the youngest member of the Silver family and is in law enforcement like his mother and sisters — each of whom are formidable in their own ways,” the tantalizing character breakdown teases.

“Always the cool kid growing up, Jonah carries himself with confidence and swagger in all situations, so he’s naturally frustrated at being a rookie cop on the sidelines of the city’s biggest investigations.”
The casting news dropped one day after Gloria Reuben (ER, Mr. Robot) was confirmed to be the Silver family matriarch, Mae.
Gloria is one of the small screen’s finest talents, and I can’t wait to see what she brings to the Blue Bloods universe.
The Spinoff Has a Stacked Cast
Maggie Lawson and Ernie Hudson round out the cast, and even more names are expected to join the spinoff’s ranks in the coming weeks.
With production slated to begin imminently, we should be getting our first wave of footage in the coming weeks.

Given that the show secured a spot on the CBS fall schedule, the network will want to promote the heck out of the successor to one of its biggest hits.
Boston Blue will take over the timeslot held by the mothership for so long, beginning in the fall.
What are your thoughts on the Silver family so far? Are you excited about delving into a whole new family through Danny’s eyes?
We know it’s not cool to ask for help, but here we are.
A comment lets us know someone’s out there, and a share helps more than you’d think. Either way, thanks for sticking with us.
