Report: Ravens safety Ar’Darius Washington suffers torn Achilles

The Baltimore Ravens will be without a key piece of their defence for most of, if not all of the 2025 season.

Safety Ar’Darius Washington reportedly suffered a torn Achilles during off-season conditioning, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport. He is expected to miss most or all of the 2025 season, Rapoport added.

Washington, 25, enjoyed a breakout season last year after recording 64 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble. Including the playoffs, he made 12 starts and appeared in all 19 games.

Over his first three seasons, Washington made one start in eight games.

The five-foot-eight safety earned the starting role as Marcus Williams continued to deal with injuries. Williams was released on March 12 after playing in only 32 games over three years in Baltimore, and never made more than 11 appearances in a single season.

Washington was set to play on the restricted free agent tender, putting him in line for a big pay raise come next March.

The Ravens selected University of Georgia safety Malaki Starks in the first round in April’s draft. Starks is now slated to start alongside star Kyle Hamilton on Baltimore’s back end.
