UFC announces additional matchups for upcoming UFC 319 card in Chicago

The UFC announced the addition of two lightweight matchups for the upcoming UFC 319: Du Plessis vs. Chimaev event.

Ten matchups were confirmed in a press release to promote ticket sales on Tuesday, including two previously unannounced 155-pound contests. One is between veterans Bobby “King” Green and Diego Ferreira and another will see Edson Barboza return to the weight class to take on Drakkar Klose.

Green, 38, is looking to bounce back from back-to-back highlight losses to Paddy Pimblett and Mauricio Ruffy. Green was submitted by Pimblett 11 months ago before being knocked out with a spinning wheel kick by Ruffy in March.

Ferreira, 40, had a two-fight knockout streak snapped in January when he lost a decision to Grant Dawson.

Barboza, 39, is returning to lightweight for the first time since 2019. The Brazilian striker went 4-4 competing as a featherweight and holds notable past lightweight wins over Dan Hooker, Beneil Dariush, Anthony Pettis, Gilbert Melendez and the aforementioned Green, among others.

Klose, 37, is 7-2 in the UFC since 2018 but hasn’t fought since being knocked out by a Joel Alvarez flying knee this past December.

UFC 319 takes place Aug. 16 in Chicago and is scheduled to be headlined by a middleweight title fight between reigning champion Dricus Du Plessis and undefeated challenger Khamzat Chimaev.
