Sophie Winkleman stuns in white as she and her husband Lord Frederick Windsor arrive at Wimbledon – and he sweetly carries her bag

Lord Frederick Windsor and Sophie Winkleman looked as happy as ever as they arrived for day seven of the 2024 Wimbledon Championships at the All England Club in London.

Lord Frederick, who is King Charles’s second cousin and the only son of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, beamed as he sweetly carried his wife’s bag to the event.

Peep Show actress Sophie, 43, who is the half-sister of Strictly presenter Claudia, meanwhile looked radiant as they arrived to watch a day of tennis.

The couple have been attending the world-renowned tennis tournament for the past few years and Frederick is a keen tennis fan.

Sophie stunned in a white cheesecloth gathered maxi dress from Me & Em, pairing her look with espadrille sandals from Stuart Weitzman.

Freddie, 45, was all to happy to carry her Aspinal of London henley woven leather tote bag, which contained bottles of water, and umbrellas for the inclement weather.

The couple, who married in 2009, looked to be in great spirits as they posed for photos with their arms around one another.

And as they sat down for the tennis match, Sophie appeared to be hiding her face in her hair as they shared a giggle while watching.

The Wimbledon royal box often houses members of the Royal Family, notably the Princess of Wales – who this year has not been seen in attendance as she continues her recovery amid cancer treatment.

Other royals and royal connections who have graced it so far in 2024 include Lady Amelia Windsor, Kate’s parents Carole and Michael Middleton and the Duchess of Gloucester.

In January Sophie lifted the lid on her life as a member of the extended royal family in the January issue of Tatler – calling the Windsor clan ‘really good friends’.

The actress, who shot to fame as Big Suze in cult British comedy Peep Show, spoke with particular fondness about her relationship with King Charles, praising the monarch for his hard work and calling him a ‘very dear friend’.

Sophie, who shares daughters Maud, ten, and Isabella, seven, with Freddie – and is the half-sister of Strictly presenter Claudia, also discussed her 2017 horror car crash, saying she assumed she was in the final moments of her life after the smash, which left medics fearing she may have been paralysed.

The couple were wed in the Chapel Royal at historic Hampton Court Palace 2009.

The actor, who also made a recent cameo in Wonka, said: ‘I didn’t know anyone at my wedding. I had my best pals there but basically it was full of faces I’d never seen before.

‘My mother- in-law, Princess Michael of Kent, took full personal charge of it all and did it brilliantly, including what dress I was wearing.’

The actor was involved in a car crash in 2017 and told the magazine she assumed she was in her final moments of life.

She was a back-seat passenger in a chauffeur-driven car when another vehicle struck her car after swerving to avoid a deer.

The car she was riding in was dramatically thrown up into the air before crashing down and causing life-threatening injuries.

Freddie’s father, Prince Michael, is a first cousin of the late Queen, and the family was brought up in Kensington palace as close neighbours of Princes William and Harry.

Freddie showed academic promise at school, becoming an Oppidan Scholar at Eton College before going on to study Classics at Magdalen College, Oxford, graduating with a 2:1 in 2002.

But there was a time when the son of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent was known  as a confirmed hedonist.

‘He was constantly surrounded by girls, was chucking back vintage Krug and had a fag permanently hanging out of his mouth,’ said one observer from his younger days.

At one point, Lord Frederick’s parents even made him visit a drugs rehabilitation clinic to warn him about the potential consequences.

But after being caught taking cocaine in his early twenties, Frederick – known as Freddie – vowed to focus on his studies and later married glamorous actress Sophie Winkleman of Peep Show fame.
