Canada’s Corey Conners in hunt at Masters
Canada’s Corey Conners has given himself another chance for a strong finish at the Masters.
Conners, from Listowel, Ont., left the course two shots off the clubhouse lead after shooting a 2-under 70 in the second round on Friday in Augusta, Ga.
Conners was at 6 under for the tournament, two back of front-runner Justin Rose. Conners was tied with Rory McIlroy. Bryson DeChambeau was second at 7 under.
The Canadian entered the day in a tie for second, three off the lead.
Conners, 33, had three consecutive top-10 finishes at the first major of the year from 2022-22, with a tie for sixth in ’22 being the best result.
The Kent State University product is off to a strong start this season, sitting sixth in the FedExCup standings. He has finished in the top 10 in four of nine events.
Meanwhile, Nick Taylor of Abbotsford, B.C. made the cut at even par.
Mike Weir of Brights Grove, Ont., and Taylor Pendrith of Richmond Hill, Ont., both missed the cut.
