SL vs BAN 1st Test, Day 1 LIVE: Angelo Mathew’s retirement match underway

Gear up for the first Test between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in Galle, with Angelo Mathews set to play his farewell match. It kickstart the brand new World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle as well. Mathews has had an incredible career, becoming the third-highest run-scorer for Sri Lanka in Tests. Bangladesh had a decent WTC cycle but struggled with batting consistency. They recently removed their ODI captain, Najmul Hossain Shanto, but he’ll continue to lead in Tests.

Sri Lanka, on the other hand, finished sixth in the previous cycle and have a strong head-to-head record  (20 wins & 1 loss) against Bangladesh, making them favorites in this series.
