Shreyas Iyer reveals personal mantra ahead of IND vs ENG ODIs

Star batter Shreyas Iyer is back with the Indian Cricket Team after a long time. He has been a part of the ODI setup after Gambhir’s appointment despite being snubbed from the BCCI central contract. Ahead of the IND vs ENG ODI series, Shreyas Iyer revealed his mantra that he doesn’t run behind success, instead he works hard to achieve it.

After a 4-1 win over England in the recently concluded T20I series, India now takes on the Three Lions for a 3-match ODI series. This will serve as a preparatory series before the highly anticipated ICC Champions Trophy. Shreyas Iyer, who has been selected in both the series, is a pivotal figure in India’s top order. Naturally, expectations will be high on the ace batter to showcase his worth.

I never underestimate Myself – Shreyas Iyer

“I don’t run behind success. I follow a certain routine and preparation which will take me towards success. For me Champion is Me. I feel it is all in your mind. I personally feel, there is no one to support you other than yourself,” Iyer said in a video posted by the BCCI.

Shreyas Iyer claimed that he loves staying in the present, which helps him stay grounded. Furthermore, he doesn’t run behind success. Instead, he follows a proper routine which helps him achieve it. Furthermore, in his mind, Iyer also believes that he is the Champion. He also claimed that it is important to enjoy the journey as success is not achieved overnight.

“I always keep saying that you should live in the present. I’ve been grateful that I have won so many championships in 2024. The things that I do every day, that inevitably get me the result. The journey overall teaches you a lot. You win some, you lose some. If you run behind something, you definitely get it, but there is a journey behind it. You don’t achieve it overnight,” Iyer added.
