A rare 1.84 acres on Indian Creek Island, home to notable terribles like Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, is on the market. The news out of Billionaire Bunker went up late last month, as first reported by the Highest & Best newsletter. The plot at 9 Indian Creek Road costs a sky-high $200 million, or $2,500 per square feet, and will mean you’ll have to be neighbors with Jeff Bezos.
The Florida gated community has only 41 homes to begin with, and the Amazon founder has bought up three of them: 11 Indian Creek Island Road, 12 Indian Creek Island Road, and 28 Indian Creek Island Road. (The Post reported that Bezos plans to live in the last house he bought, while demolishing the other two for custom builds.) Altogether, Bezos’s home-shopping spree on the island cost him $237 million.
The lot that just opened up next door last sold for $27.5 million in 2018, which means it’s gone up 627 percent in less than a decade. Ilya Reznik, the broker representing the owners, told Bloomberg that the number is negotiable but that Bezos is part of the seller’s calculus. “I think $200 million is a big number but I’m confident that in the end the buyer will pay a little extra because Bezos is a neighbor,” Reznik said. “Those prices just didn’t exist before he came to Indian Creek.” Still, it’s hard to imagine who would be willing to pay so much for an empty lot just to live next to Bezos.
