‘Scare Tactics’ Reboot From Jordan Peele Sets October Premiere Date
The upcoming “Scare Tactics” reboot has set its official premiere date.
The horror-comedy prank series will premiere on Oct. 4 at 10 p.m. ET on USA Network, while also airing simultaneously on fellow NBCUniversal networks Bravo, Syfy, and E!. The return of the series was originally announced in July.
The new iteration of the series will be hosted by Flip, who is described as “a spectral pre-teen obsessed with horror movies and fascinated by human fear.”
As with the original show, each episode of “Scare Tactics” will follow unsuspecting people as they are set up by family and friends to be plunged into staged horror scenarios all captured on hidden cameras. Per NBCUniversal, the show will feature regular people as well as guest stars like WWE’s The New Day, who think they are going to be part of a promotional event with current WWE Universal champion Cody Rhodes.
Jordan Peele executive produces “Scare Tactics” along with Win Rosenfeld and Jamal Watson under their Monkeypaw Productions banner. Scott Hallock executive produces for WMTI Productions, Inc. Elan Gale serves as executive producer and showrunner. The “Scare Tactics” format is owned by WMTI Productions, Inc. Universal Television Alternative Studio produces in association with Monkeypaw and WMTI.
The original “Scare Tactics” aired on Syfy (then the Sci-Fi Channel) for five seasons between 2003 and 2013. Shannen Doherty was the original host of the show, followed by Stephen Baldwin and finally Tracy Morgan. Pranks on the show included making campers believe they were being attacked by Big Foot and staging a UFO abduction.
