It’s saying something that people STILL talk about Scandal years after the series closed the chapter on Olivia Pope and company.
When the series premiered, it featured some recognizable faces. Still, several actors weren’t immediately familiar to audiences, yet became big stars during the series’ primetime reign.
Now that the series has been over for seven years (!), we decided to take a look to see what the cast has been up to lately.
For some, their work has stayed in front of the camera, but several cast members have also done a lot of work behind the camera.
Star Kerry Washington has been involved in numerous projects as her career continues to rise, reaching new heights during the Scandal era.
But what about the others? What have they been up to?
Explore this list to see for yourself what everyone has been up to.
Kerry Washington
Before Scandal, Kerry Washington was a well-established working actress with supporting roles in films such as Save the Last Dance, Ray, and Mr. and Mrs. Smith. But Scandal was the breakthrough role that really put her on the map.
Since the show ended in 2018, Washington has starred in films such as American Son, The School for Good and Evil, and most recently, Shadow Force. However, some of her television roles have garnered her more acclaim.
Washington starred in and was an executive producer of Little Fires Everywhere, a Hulu miniseries that also starred Reese Witherspoon and premiered to critical acclaim, as well as UnPrisoned, which ran for two seasons on Hulu.
Next up, the veteran actress is set to star in Imperfect Women alongside Elisabeth Moss. The series will be another Apple TV+ original featuring a stacked cast that includes Kate Mara, Joel Kinnaman, and Corey Stoll.
There’s no information about its release yet, but the cast alone has us excited for what’s to come.
Darby Stanchfield
One of Olivia Pope’s most trusted associates was Abby Whelan, played by Darby Stanchfield, an actress best known for her roles in Jericho and Mad Men before joining the ABC hit drama.
Stanchfield has a lengthy filmography with numerous guest spots throughout her career, but since the end of Scandal, she has had a notable run as a main character on the Netflix series Locke & Key.
Since that ended in 2022, Stanchfield has kept a low profile on the television front with no other credits to her name.
Her most recent film, entitled Willie and Me, told the story of a housewife traveling to the United States for Willie Nelson’s farewell tour.
Stanchfield had a supporting role in the German-American independent film, and here’s hoping we’ll see more of her on our screens soon.
Katie Lowes
Quinn Perkins was as essential to Scandal as any other character, as we were introduced to the world of Olivia Pope and Associates when she was recruited to join the team and become one of Olivia’s gladiators.
Much like her castmates, Kate Lowes became an overnight sensation during Scandal, though prior to that, she had amassed many guest star roles, including stints on two other Shonda Rhimes creations, Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice.
Once Scandal wrapped, Lowes was a lead on the short-lived CBS sitcom How We Roll, and she reunited with Rhimes to play a pivotal role in the Netflix miniseries Inventing Anna.
Up next, you can catch Lowes in the Netflix drama The Hunting Wives alongside Malin Ackerman, Brittany Snow, and Dermot Mulroney. The twisted drama is set to release in the summer of 2025.
Guillermo DÃaz
Before Guillermo DÃaz became Diego “Huck” Muñoz, most people recognized him from his work with Dave Chappelle on his television series Chappelle’s Show and the cult-classic film Half Baked.
The role of Huck was quite a departure from those roles. Since then, the actor has appeared in the romantic comedy film Bros, as well as had stints on several television series, including the short-lived sitcom United We Fall, The Good Doctor, and St. Denis Medical.
DÃaz also has a recurring role in Law & Order: Organized Crime as Sergeant Bill Brewster.
DÃaz’s filmography spans thirty years, and he shows no signs of slowing down.
Jeff Perry
Jeff Perry entered Scandal with a robust set of characters under his belt, including Mr. Richard Katimski from My So-Called Life, Terrance Steadman from Prison Break, and Thatcher Grey from Grey’s Anatomy.
Cyrus Beene will go down as one of the great television villains of all time, but since he took his last devilish bow on screen, Perry has kept himself busy with various roles.
Perry starred alongside Connie Britton in the first season of Dirty John and joined Scandal castmate Lowes in Inventing Anna.
He returned to ABC to star in Alaska Daily with Hilary Swank in 2022, but the series failed to garner significant traction, and the network canceled it after one season.
Most recently, Perry starred in a few episodes of Ryan Murphy’s Monster series, The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.
Tony Goldwyn
Tony Goldwyn comes from Hollywood royalty, and acting is just one of the hats Goldwyn has worn, as he’s also a singer, producer, director, and political activist.
Outside of his role as President Fitzgerald Grant III, Goldwyn is known for playing the villain in Ghost, the character who kills Patrick Swayze’s character, Sam Wheat. But Scandal introduced him to a whole new audience who fell for the puckish president who had many flaws but was head over heels in love with Olivia Pope.
After Scandal, Goldwyn spent time on Broadway in The Inheritance, as well as starred in the one-season Netflix vehicle Chambers.
Lately, Goldwyn had a guest stint on Hacks and joined the cast of Law & Order, stepping in after Sam Waterston’s departure as the new Manhattan District Attorney Nicholas Baxter.
Joshua Malina
Any Sports Night fans out there? How about The West Wing? If you were a fan of those beloved shows, then you’re familiar with Joshua Malina.
Malina played Attorney General David Rosen on Scandal, and his character, who often acted as a foil to Olivia, quickly became a favorite. The show promoted him from recurring to series regular status during Scandal Season 2.
Post Scandal, Malina remained busy guest-starring on various shows, including This Is Us, American Auto, and The Rookie.
He also starred in Inventing Anna, which was quite the Scandal reunion party.
Bellamy Young
Bellamy Young has been steadily working since Scandal ended, following her breakthrough role as Melody “Mellie” Grant, which made her a fan favorite.
Young went straight from Scandal to the FOX hit Prodigal Son, which, despite having a two-season run, was adored by fans and critics alike. Seriously. We miss Prodigal Son over here every day!
She has gone on to have lead roles in Promised Land and The Other Black Girl, as well as a starring role in the blockbuster film A Wrinkle in Time.
We haven’t seen Young in anything yet in 2025, but we hope to see her back on television soon!
Scott Foley
Scott Foley had a remarkable career before Scandal, and he has continued to work consistently since leaving the role of Jake Ballard behind. From Felicity to Scream 3, Foley has had quite the run as a leading man.
Post-Scandal, Foley had starring roles in Whiskey Cavalier, The Big Leap (RIP), The Girls on the Bus, and Will Trent.
He also recently starred in the Netflix film La Dolce Villa and will re-enter the Scream franchise once more as he’s set to star in the upcoming Scream 7.
Foley stays busy, and we enjoy all the different roles he plays.
