India’s new number 3 Sai Sudharsan might be out of the 2nd Test after a couple of miserable performances in Leeds
India cricket team batter Sai Sudharsan is unlikely to make it to the playing XI for the ENG vs IND 2nd Test at Edgbaston. The Tamil Nadu batter, who served as India’s new number 3, managed to score just 0 & 30 in the two innings that he faced. Despite being the leading run-getter in IPL 2025, Sudharsan failed to impress with the bat in the 1st Test, with his stints at the crease in the game being short-lived.

As per RevSportz, Sudharsan has sustained an n injury to his shoulder which could force him to be out of the 2nd ENG vs IND Test. The report states that he seemed to have a problem while fielding on Day 5 while fielding.
“Sai Sudarshan is not completely fit for the next match right now. He seems to be in some problem on the last day during fielding. He has a slight problem in his shoulder,” the report stated.
In the first innings, a leg slip was placed for him. Fielders at fine leg and mid-wicket were in position as well. However, the second time around, the trap wasn’t so obvious. Stokes was trying to bowl from over the wicket, instead of round the wicket.
Sudharsan was almost trapped on his pads off his very first delivery in Test cricket off Brydon Carse. However, he appeared to get lucky as it looked like it was bat first. A single from Jaiswal in the first ball of the final over before lunch forced Sai to get back on strike. While he left the second ball, the third delivery was pretty similar to the one that he was dismissed, except that the ball had clipped past his thigh pad.
Sudharsan attempted the same shot down the leg side in his fourth delivery, only to end up being caught behind by Jamie Smith. As a result, England found their second breakthrough just before lunch.
In the 2nd innings, In the 21st over, Stokes came on again. He started by bowling outside off and then switched. He aimed at his pads and got flicked for a boundary. The next ball, Stokes delivered a booming inswinger at middle. Sudharsan got sucked into playing a flick again, but this time he found the hands of Zak Crawley at midwicket.
