Sabrina Carpenter is enjoying the biggest moment of her music career so far right now with the launch of her album Short n Sweet, featuring lead single “Espresso.”
In a new interview, the 25-year-old pop star is opening up about what the song is truly about.
Sabrina said in an interview with The Guardian that she began writing the song in July 2023 while she was on vacation in France. She talked about the mindset she was in at the time.

“It was a manifestation tactic, because no one liked me romantically at that point – no one was obsessed with me,” Sabrina told the newspaper. “I didn’t have anyone I was even talking to. I’ve always been a bit delusional, in that sense.”
Sabrina also talked about growing up in the social media and how it’s affected her writing.
“It’s not what I signed up for, but I can’t really help when I was born,” she said. “I want to be honest – I want to just write about what’s happening in my life as a 25-year-old girl. But it comes with the territory and I just have to be like … OK!”
Sabrina also talked about her boyfriend in the interview.
