Robyn Lively remembers ‘Teen Witch’ cast 35 years after film’s debut

It’s the season for witches, and Robyn Lively is thinking of her costars from the cult classic Teen Witch.

She shared photos of herself — the titular spell-caster — with several actors from the 1989 film: Dan Gauthier (who played her crush Brad), Mandy Ingber (best friend Polly), Lisa Fuller (cool girl Randa), and Joshua John Miller (pesky younger brother Richie).

She captioned that shot and a few from the movie with a sweet caption: “35 years bwitches! That’s right! Tis the season! I can hardly believe it’s been that many years that we made this unsuspecting treasure. Having the opportunity to meet so many of you that love this film, to read your delightful and sometimes heart wrenching comments here… you guys will never know how much it means to me. So thank you, for sharing a piece of your heart and experiences with me! Teen Witch fans are the absolute BEST! You have my heart!”

The comedy starred Lively, who happens to be the older sister of Blake, alongside veteran actors such as Shelley Berman, Dick Sargent, and Zelda Rubinstein.

Louise, a school misfit who wishes for more popularity and the cool guy by her side, discovers that she has magical powers. She uses them, and they make her so popular that her peers chant her name and carry around the room at the dance. Her favorite singer plucks her out of the crowd to give her a jacket. And that dream guy? He’s hers. Also worth mentioning is the amazing scene in which she bestows upon her bestie the confidence to engage in an epic rap battle.

While the movie didn’t do well at the box office — Box Office Mojo reports that it earned just $27,843 in theaters — Lively has said that she’s recognized for that role more than any other.

Teen Witch holds the number one spot for decades now,” she told PEOPLE in August 2022. “Nothing compares. People absolutely love that film, and it’s resonated with so many generations. I had no idea when we were filming it that it would end up being … I just had no clue. It’s so dear and beloved to me because of that.”

Lively’s list of credits also includes The Karate Kid Part III, Cobra Kai, and 9-1-1: Lone Star.
