EXCLUSIVE: Properly Go USA Leisure has expanded its slate of Korean movies, buying North American rights to titles together with Alienoid, Hansan: Rising Dragon, Gangnam Zombie, The Ghost Station and The Murderer. Whereas the worldwide and indie distributor has set theatrical releases in place for Alienoid and Hansan, plans for the opposite three movies haven’t but been finalized.
Alienoid is the primary in a collection of two big-budget sci-fi movies from director Choi Dong-hoon. Ryu Jun-Yeol, Kim Woo-bin and Kim Tae-ri star within the pic, which is being distributed in Korea by CJ ENM.
Directed by Kim Han-min and starring Park Hae-il, Byun Yo-han and Ahn Sung-ki, Hansan: Rising Dragon is a follow-up to 2014’s The Admiral: Roaring Currents—the most-watched movie in Korean cinema historical past—which brings to life the historic Battle of Hansan Island. Its Korean distributor is Lotte Leisure.
Within the horror movie Gangnam Zombie, from director Lee Soo-sung, upscale Gangnam in Seoul turns into the middle of mass chaos in a single day as residents start experiencing unusual and terrifying signs and devolve into inhuman creatures, leaving just a few survivors with the potential to make it out alive. Park Jiyeon and Ji Il Joo star within the pic, which Contents Panda is releasing in Korea.
Additionally set for Korean distribution through Contents Panda is the horror The Ghost Station, wherein a younger reporter protecting a suspicious accident learns from police that her supply was supposedly already useless on the time of their interview. As extra mysterious deaths happen, she and her accomplice dig deeper into the case and are available head to head with a horrifying reality.
Directed by Kwak Jeong-duk, and starring Shin Hyun-joon, The Murderer is an action-packed journey about Joseon’s biggest murderer and his lethal final mission, which is being launched in Korea by Ok-Film Leisure.
“We’re thrilled to crew up with Contents Panda(NEW), Lotte Leisure, CJ ENM, Showbox, and Ok-Film Leisure to carry this unimaginable lineup to followers all through North America,” stated Properly Go USA’s President and CEO, Doris Pfardrescher. “We now have been proud supporters of Korean cinema for a few years now, and the style’s current and well-deserved explosion in worldwide recognition is one other testomony to the good leisure worth Korean filmmakers carry to viewers within the U.S. and all through the world.”
Properly Go USA’s best-known Korean titles embody fan-favorite horror and motion titles like The Wailing and The Villainess, the acclaimed Prepare to Busan franchise, and two of Korea’s current Oscar submissions for Greatest Worldwide Movie: the high-octane historic action-thriller Escape from Mogadishu in 2022, and Burning—the first-ever Korean movie to be shortlisted for the glory—in 2019. Beforehand introduced additions to the corporate’s roster of Korean movies embody the sci-fi motion sequel The Witch 2: The Different One—which was launched in theaters on June 17—and the Cannes-debuting catastrophe thriller Emergency Declaration, which is slated for launch in August, at a date that has not but been disclosed.
