Kelli Giddish Returning to Law & Order: SVU for Season 27
This special detective is coming out of retirement.
Nearly three years after Law & Order: SVU star Kelli Giddish, 45, announced her exit from the long-running crime drama in 2022, she’s set to return back to the New York squad this fall, E! News can confirm.
Giddish will reprise her role as Amanda Rollins—who debuted in season 13 as former detective Nick Amaro’s (Danny Pino) partner, before later joining forces with Mariska Hargitay’s Olivia Benson—in season 27 of the show. Her return comes shortly after Octavio Pisano and Juliana Martinez, who played detectives Joe Velasco and Kate Saliva respectively, confirmed they would be leaving the long running procedural.
Giddish’s reprisal is a win for SVU fans, especially those who were surprised by her sudden departure from the series midway through season 24. At the time, her character married ADA Dominick “Sonny” Carisi (Peter Scanavino) and left the precinct for a teaching job at Fordham University.
