Raptors’ Immanuel Quickley named NBA Cares community award winner for April

Quickley earns the nod after spearheading multiple initiatives, such as creating up to five full-time scholarships for students at his high school alma mater through the Immanuel Quickley Scholarship Awards and the Quickley Family Foundation for deserving students.

The 25-year-old has also supported wellness programs through his IQ5 Elite Youth Basketball Program.

He recently partnered with the Courtside Care event to provide free health screenings along with basketball activities to underserved communities. Courtside Care is a collaborative initiative between the Toronto Raptors, Sun Life and LAMP East Mississauga Health Clinic to support the health and well-being of low-income families.

“My mom’s always said the best thing you can do is give back and help people,” Quickley said through the NBA’s statement.  “So yeah, I’ve worked hard to be great on the court, but at the end of the day, it’s really about making sure it’s not just about me and doing things that matter off the court too.”

The fifth-year guard will receive the David Robinson trophy in recognition of the honour, and the NBA will donate $10,000 to his hometown Havre de Grace Boys & Girls Club in Maryland.

Along with creating opportunities for youth, Toronto’s PG and his foundation plan to mentor scholarship recipients to reinforce “the Quickley family’s mission to enhance the lives of youth.”

Quickley receives the final monthly community assist award for the 2024-25 season. The rest of the winners can be found here.

The NBA Cares Bob Lanier Community Assist Award honours Hall of Famer Bob Lanier, an NBA Cares Ambassador for more than 30 years.
