‘No one wanted this old cat’: Caring woman adopts a depressed and lonely 13-year-old cat who’s been in a shelter his whole life, giving him the home he so badly wanted for his final years

Believe us when we tell you that this story is going to make you emotional. We didn’t expect it either. And sure, yes, we do always have a soft spot for senior cats getting adopted and finding the purrfect place to spend their golden years. And yes, we do tell people that senior cats make amazing pets, because somehow, people still don’t believe it. And yes, we know that senior cats get adopted very rarely at shelters, and that even a one-year-old cat can be considered “old” in some places, let alone a thirteen-year-old one. We know all of that about ourselves, and yet… this story still managed to take us off guard. 

For 13 years, this cat has been living in a shelter. And really, it doesn’t matter how well it was treated there, we are not surprised that it ended up feeling so lonely and sad. No one wanted to adopt him. No one. Despite the fact that he has so, so much love to give. Until someone did. And they gave him a chance to live out the rest of his life with joy and love.
