Miranda Cosgrove Teases New iCarly Project After Reboot’s Cancellation
Miranda Cosgrove is teasing a new iCarly project that is currently in the works.
The actress, who originated the role of Carly Shay on the hit Nickelodeon show which initially ran from 2007 to 2012, later reprised her character for the revival, which aired from 2021 to 2023. However, the reboot was canceled after three seasons.
During a recent appearance on The Talk, Cosgrove shared, “I’m not allowed to 100 percent confirm anything yet but I think the fans of the show are going to be super excited because we have something in the works.”
While the Mother of the Bride star wouldn’t confirm what type of project, the idea of a movie was tossed around among hosts Akbar Gbajabiamila, Sheryl Underwood and Natalie Morales. The latter also asked Cosgrove if the upcoming project meant “bringing back old favorites” from the cast.
“Yes, and we actually ended the revival on a cliffhanger, and we’re going to wrap that up,” the actress responded.
In addition to Cosgrove, the iCarly reboot saw Nathan Kress (Freddie Benson) and Jerry Trainor (Spencer Shay) reprise their roles. The series continued Carly’s storyline a decade later, following a group of best friends as they create a webcast while grappling with everyday adult problems and adventures. It also starred Laci Mosley and Jaidyn Triplett.
When Paramount+ announced last year that the revival would not be returning for a fourth season, a spokesperson for the streamer wrote in a statement at the time, “iCarly will not be returning for a fourth season on Paramount+. The series had a great three-season run and delivered on what fans really wanted to see with Carly and Freddie finally getting together. We want to thank the entire cast, the writers, directors and producers along with the whole crew for their dedication, creativity and talent.”
