’36-year-old’ Virat Kohli elated with getting a week off for India vs New Zealand match
India’s next match will be against New Zealand on March 2 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Virat Kohli has done it again. Another century for the chase master. The former Indian skipper worked hard for his 81st century, getting there on the final ball of the India vs. Pakistan match. Chasing a modest 242 total, Kohli once again anchored a crucial victory.
Virat Kohli happy with a week’s rest for New Zealand match
Kohli toiled hard in the Dubai heat, fielding for the entire first innings. Of course, that isn’t all. He then spent 151 minutes (two and a half hours) in the middle, playing 111 balls. It ought to be taxing. Asked how he feels about a week gap for Team India’s next fixture against New Zealand, Kohli stated that he’s elated that he’ll get to kick his feet up.
He mentioned at his age, 36 years old, recovering isn’t easy. Usually, athletes want to keep competing regularly to ensure they are in touch. But Kohli, at this stage of his career, wants time to rest and recover.
“A week off at the age of 36 is very good; it takes a lot out of me in putting in that effort, so I’ll put my feet up for a few days,” Kohli said in the post-match interview.
