Man finds scraggly ginger kitten in a dumpster, it hisses at him, he adopts it with no questions asked: ‘[He] looked up at me and his eyes said, “I live with you now.”‘

We have seen more and more talk lately about people getting all kinds of special breed cats – we’re talking about beautiful Maine Coon kittens, and adorable Bengal cat kittens, and meowgestic Norwegian forest cat kittens. And while all of these are are amazing in their own ways and showcase some of the coolest features of cats, we do think that it’s important to remember how we got here. It’s important to remember that our trashcan kitties are just as beautiful and amazing. 

There is nothing quite like being chosen by a trashcan kitten. Scraggly, lost, confused about the universe, but so, so happy to find its human and be taken out of the situation that it is in. All those special breed cats… in reality, they are not all that different from your common variety trashcan kitty. Behaviorally, they are essentially the same. And the love that they will give you and you will get from your trashcan kitten will be equal if not more than any other breed.
