Frozen waffles, Belgian waffles, and pancakes sold at retailers across the country have been recalled due to potential contamination with the bacteria Listeria monocytogenes, according to the manufacturer TreeHouse Foods.

A full list of the affected products can be found on the manufacturer’s website.

They were sold at grocery stores nationwide, including: Aldi, Dollar General, Food Lion, Kroger, Price Chopper, Publix, Target, Tops, Trader Joe’s, Walmart, Wegmans, and Whole Foods.

The affected items all have a “best by” date between October 1 and October 11, 2024.

Any affected frozen waffles or pancakes should be thrown away or returned to the point of purchase.

No illnesses have been reported so far in relation to this recall, per the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

What Are the Symptoms of Listeria Infection?

Listeria monocytogenes is a bacteria that can grow even at colder temperatures. Intestinal symptoms usually start within 24 hours of eating contaminated food, and can last between one and three days.

In healthy individuals, listeria infection can cause flu-like symptoms including stomach ache, diarrhea, fever, stiff muscles, and headache.

The very young, old, and people with compromised immune systems are at risk of more severe illness.
