Original Sublime members Bud Gaugh and Eric Wilson are executive producing along with Bradley’s son Jakob Nowell, who is now Sublime’s lead singer, as well as widow Troy Nowell on behalf of the late singer’s estate.
The Long Beach ska punk trio came to prominence with their fusion of elements of reggae, punk, folk and hip-hop, with songs like “What I Got,” “Santeria,” “Wrong Way,” and “Doin’ Time” throughout the ’90s. Sublime notably did not have major mainstream success until their third album released in 1996, released two months after Bradley‘s death due to a heroin overdose.
Sources tell Deadline that AJ spent “almost two years chasing this role once he was aware of the project.” And after several meetings, along with numerous self-tapes, producers and executives “realized he was perfect for the role of Nowell and an offer recently followed after the estate signed off on it.”
KJ recently opened up about scenes he didn’t love filming in Riverdale.
