‘Kite Man’ actors want their side characters to have sex scene

Harley Quinn and Kite Man: Hell Yeah actors Lake Bell and James Adomian may voice big-name baddies Poison Ivy and Bane, but they have the most fun doing the voices for obscure side characters.

“I love being Poison Ivy, but my favorite thing is when they ask you to show up and are like, ‘Do you have time to do a couple other characters?'” Bell tells Entertainment Weekly while visiting our studio at Comic-Con 2024. “It’s just really fun. We play lots and lots of voices. We do so much on these shows.”

Adds Adomian: “I do Bane. but then there’s all these weird assassin characters and sidekicks, and I watch it and I’m like, ‘Oh yeah, that guy.'”

The duo shares their personal favorite set of characters, however. Cheryl, a cop, for Bell, and a guy with a grey ponytail, named James in Adomian’s honor. “I have a woman named Cheryl that I am constantly campaigning to have more of,” Bell says, while Adomian adds, “I love this character so much. He gets terribly injured every time you see him.”

The two actors take so much delight in bringing the characters and their various idiosyncrasies to life that they want the two to share an intimate moment. “I want them to have like a sex scene,” laughs Bell. “That could be happening in a spinoff. I’s called, I’m Cheryl, and there’s a man named James with a ponytail.”

But it’s not only Cheryl and James the two revel in. “There was another one that was a vocal fried, like a sexy baby, and that one I was very sad to not get to do more of,” notes Bell. “You get to be all these different people and then they smush it all together. It’s really a symphony of Lake and James.”

The only thing Bell might love more is improvising plenty of curse words during her recording sessions. “I want to exclusively use the F-bomb at all times,” she concludes. “I enjoy improvisational cursing and ‘ding-dong-dicks of whatever..’…It just happens on the day. What I’m saying is it is a joy to curse.”

Considering that the trailer for Kite Man: Hell Yeah!, which premiered on July 18 on Max, features its title character recounting a story of his mother catching him masturbating, we’re fairly certain the new show should give Bell plenty of opportunities to put her colorful vocabulary to use.
