Kaley Cuoco saw random man watching her naked in her hotel room
Thanks to an anonymous stranger, Kaley Cuoco will never look at a blow-dryer the same way again.
“I had a very weird thing happen to me two hours ago,” Cuoco told Late Night host Seth Meyers within seconds of sitting on his talk show couch for an interview. “This is crazy.”
The Big Bang Theory star then revealed that the memory had come flooding back while she was backstage getting hair and makeup done. “The blow-dryer starts and I immediately got PTSD because I put this out of my mind,” she said. “I told my team, ‘You’re not gonna believe what just happened to me at the hotel two hours ago.'”
“You put something out of your mind that happened two hours ago?” Meyers asked.
Cuoco was quick to confirm. “Yes! I said, ‘I can’t even think about this. I’m not gonna tell my family,'” she said. But then came the sound of the dryer, which immediately took her back to the awkward encounter. “‘I have to tell everyone what just happened,'” she recalled.
The actress then launched into the story of her bizarre hotel room interaction, explaining that it all began when she dared to use the shower while “butt naked.”
Meyers joked, “That’s the appropriate way to shower. Don’t blame yourself.”
“Thank you, because I feel a lot of shame,” Cuoco answered with a laugh. “So, butt naked, and I think, ‘Okay, I’m gonna start drying my hair a little bit.’ Butt naked in my bathroom, in my shower, in my hotel room. So I’m really dramatically blow-drying my hair — it felt like I was in a commercial. And I look up. In the mirror, I see a man in my room.”
Much like Cuoco in the moment, Meyers was shocked by this development. “What kind of a man?!” he asked.
“Well, he worked there,” she answered, before noting that the random man must have realized his mistake — though he didn’t know that he’d been spotted — because he began backing out of the room slowly. “He doesn’t run,” she recalled. “It’s almost like when you see a bear and you don’t want to move.”
Cuoco, who was initially frozen in place mid-blow-drying, finally addressed him: “And then I go, ‘Sir?'”
Cuoco said that, knowing he was spotted, the man quickly picked up speed and apologized profusely — “I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry” — on his way out.
“He runs out and I’m just standing there with the blow-dryer on,” she said before incredulously exclaiming, “What was that?! Like, I think he worked at the hotel… I hope!”
The actress admitted that she had yet to tell anyone the wild story, to which Meyers quipped, “They do say the best place to do it is on talk shows — like to work through it.”
As Cuoco laughed, he continued, “Wouldn’t it be terrible if I’m like, ‘We did know you were on tonight, so we sent somebody over. Kaley’s always so good when she’s on, you know? Let’s give her a story.'”
When Meyers pointed out that the incident sounded eerily like something that would happen to Cuoco’s Flight Attendant character — the disaster-prone Cassie Bowden — she had to agree, noting that the whole thing felt “fake” like a “perfectly shot” movie.
“My life keeps imitating art,” she joked.
