Justine Skye Talks Skin Care and TikTok Obsessions

We all have our own personal skin goals. Mine, for example, is to strike the perfect balance of looking like a dewy dumpling without triggering my hormonal acne. Justine Skye wants to be crowned the most moisturized queen. After recently meeting the singer and seeing her smooth, glowing skin IRL, I can confirm that she more than deserves that title.

“I strive to be the most moisturized person in my friend group,” Skye tells PS. “And on planet Earth.”

It’s fitting then that Skye has partnered with skin-care brand Cetaphil to launch a campaign focused on simplifying our daily routines. Not just because she has an immaculate complexion but also because she’s always been well-regimented with her skin care — and first used Cetaphil in fifth grade. “It was just a staple in the house. The Gentle Skin Cleanser ($14) [is] what I would use as a kid,” she says. “That was the one [my mom] actually allowed me to use because it was safe for my skin and for kids.”

Beauty has been, and still is, a big part of her life. Going to Dominican hair salons for blowouts or getting manis together were bonding moments for her and her mom. She loves her bleached blond hair and tries her best to take care of it with protective styles. Her skin-care journey has also gone through many phases.

The singer spent her early 20s stocking her vanity with all of the latest cleansers, serums, and moisturizers. “I thought that I needed to use a million products because that’s what it meant to be very into your self-care and skin care,” she says. Now, at 29, she strictly sticks to the basics. Her key products include a cleanser, the new Cetaphil Vitamin C Serum ($20) to brighten her complexion without irritation, moisturizer in the morning and at night, plus the new Cetaphil Ceramide Serum ($18) for extra hydration.

And while beauty TikTok may have eluded some, she admits to succumbing to TikTok Shop for some of her beauty and everyday needs. “Most of the things in my place right now are things that I’ve purchased from Instagram or TikTok: tea, candy, weird tech things,” she says. “I just ordered this massage lymphatic suction thing. It’s like an addiction, I’ll just be like, ‘Oh yeah, I need that.’ Or toe separators. I just get the most random things.”

There’s one BeautyTok trend she couldn’t help but try, though it does come with a few challenges. “I definitely mouth tape sometimes when I remember,” she says. “But I’m such a yapper. So it’s like, ‘Do I want to sacrifice my yapping for the mouth tape right now?'”

When we asked Skye about wellness and self-care, she said drinking water and tea (a current favorite is white cream coconut) are important habits. But her main focus? Simply being happy. “I’m really just loving myself,” she says. “[My] self care, skin care, career, how I go about my friends, my personal life. . . I’m just really doing what makes me happy because happiness is also part of health.”

As for when we can expect new music, she wouldn’t give a definitive date just yet. But she did share that it’ll be next year and that the project is something new that will give fans a real version of who she is as an artist — and a person. “I feel like I finally know what I want and I have the experience as well, to know the difference between what I deserve and when I’m being played,” she says. “People know me, but they don’t really know me yet.”
