Jonathan Bailey Talks How ‘Shut Up & Drink Your Milk’ Was Turned Into T-Shirt Charity Campaign | Jonathan Bailey, Matt Bomer | Just Jared: Celebrity News and Gossip
Jonathan Bailey and Matt Bomer pose for photos while attending the Fellow Travelers| SAG Screening Event held at The Whitby Hotel on Friday (August 16) in New York City.
The Fellow Travelers co-stars are currently in the city attending multiple events and doing interviews to promote the show and their 2024 Emmy Awards nominations.
At the event, Jonathan and Matt were seen drinking glasses of milk, a notable reference to the line, “Shut up and drink your milk,” that Matt‘s character tells Jonathan‘s in the Showtime series.
This line also led Jonathan to create a t-shirt for a charity campaign with The Shameless Fund, and in a recent interview, he opened up about how the campaign came about from that line.

“I went to present an award for Matt at the [Human Rights Campaign] in Washington, and being in the room with people who were just so galvanized — it was my first American gala, and I was infected by the energy. I had this idea of a T-shirt, and it occurred to me that it should be about the spilling of the milk,” he told THR.
“I think we had four scripts before we started, and there was one version of a sex scene, which I’ll leave to Ron Nyswaner to reveal at some point in the future, which was wild, and then when I saw that it moved to the milk,” he continued, “I just thought, this is such an incredible moment of the exploration of power within sex and intimacy. ‘Shut up and drink your milk.’ It feels to me like an incredibly political line, somehow.”
Last month, Jonathan‘s Heartstopper co-star Joe Locke was seen wearing the t-shirt!
