Jon Stewart’s ‘Daily Show’ Song Beat ‘Scarface’s Profanity-Per-Minute Rate

We were all expecting Jon Stewart to respond to CBS’ cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on this week’s episode of The Daily Show – and he sure did.

Following a segment about Donald Trump’s Eyes Wide Shut-coded birthday card for Jeffrey Epstein, Stewart launched into a prolonged discussion of the Late Show controversy, while admitting that he’s “not the most objective” person to comment on the matter.

After ridiculing Trump’s “chronic penis insufficiency,” and pointing out that former 60 Minutes sourpuss Andy Rooney is somehow still alive, Stewart’s frustration and anger towards CBS and Paramount (which is also Comedy Central’s parent company) ultimately culminated with… a musical number?

“So to those institutions, to those corporations and advertisers and universities and law firms, all of them, if you still think that bending the knee to Trump will save you, I have one thing to say,” Stewart intoned before rising from his desk and unveiling a gospel choir.

“Compliance and complacency is not the answer,” the host preached. “We reject the mindless, machine-generated slop that offends nobody. And we affirm our shared humanity. We must continue to have humans that make things that inspire and provoke other humans.” Sure he was talking about the show that gave us “Skibidi Biden” but you get his point. Also, the choir quickly pointed out that “Chat GPT wrote that.”

“If you’re afraid and you protect your bottom line, I’ve got one thing to say, just one little phrase… Go fuck yourself.” Stewart and the choir repeatedly belted out the phrase “go fuck yourself,” and Stewart even got the crowd to sing along: “Fuck fuck fuck yourself, just go fuck yourself!”

Jon’s uncensored potty mouth may have come as a shock to some viewers, seeing as how F-words are usually censored on The Daily Show, including the time he uncharacteristically agreed with Trump about how “f**king terrible” paper straws are.

LateNighter pointed out that the reason why Stewart was able to say “fuck” with no bleeps is because this particular episode of The Daily Show changed its rating from a TV-14 to a TV-MA. But most of us simply didn’t notice, because who the fuck pays attention to TV ratings?

The outlet also noted that episode contained “over 40 F-bombs” which, in terms of fucks-per-minute, puts it in the same league as famously profane movies like Donnie Brasco and Scarface.

Scarface was once the record holder for movie F-bombs, with a grand total 226, which works out to “1.32 fucks per minute.” It’s hard to hear exactly how many “fucks” were in the song, but we counted around 49. Plus Stewart had 8 of them in the monologue, meaning that there were around 57 total F-bombs in the 28 minute segment, which would indeed top Scarface – but fall below The Wolf of Wall Street and a movie that’s just called Fuck.

But the entire episode of The Daily Show wouldn’t match Scarface because Stewart’s interview with Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong featured absolutely no profanity – even though he thanked the host for changing the episode’s rating. “Curse all you want, sir,” Stewart replied.

Since the swearing seemed to work out well, perhaps Stewart will consider including machine guns and mountains of cocaine in next week’s show.
