John Cena is closing the chapter on his career in the WWE.

The 47-year-old professional wrestler and actor has been a member of the organization since 2001.

On Saturday (July 6), he made a surprise appearance at a big event to share the news of his retirement and a timeline for when he would be stepping out of the ring.

John entered the ring at Money in the Bank in Toronto, Canada to announce that he will compete in the 2025 Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania 41 before leaving the ring for good.

From inside the ring, John issued a heartfelt speech thanking his fans. He also explained why he decided to make the announcement at this show, saying that it was because Canadian fans have always been supportive.

“All of you built this to what it is today which makes this, in my mind, the perfect place to say what I’ve got to say,” he said, via Daily Mail.

He added that he would hold a press conference to explain his decision and to answer any questions. We’ll update you once we learn more.

John will seemingly continue to focus on his acting career. He’s set to share the screen with the likes of Simu Liu and more in his new movie Jackpot. Check out the trailer.
