It may be cheap and come from an unknown manufacturer, but there’s a lot to like about the Item Emporium Dinosaur Egg Star Projector. Its unique design is seriously eye-catching, making it perfect for kids, and the build quality is surprisingly good.
There is one thing to bear in mind with this particular star projector, however. Like the Astronaut Starry Sky Star Projector, multiple versions of this projector can be found, all from different brand names. We’ve reviewed the Item Emporium version, and can’t guarantee that other brands will have the same quality and features.
But speaking purely about the Item Emporium Dinosaur Egg Galaxy Star Projector, we’ve been very impressed. This is undoubtedly one of the best star projectors you can buy, particularly if you’re looking for something that’s a bit fun-loving and suitable for children. We’re pretty confident in saying that you won’t find another star projector with as fun a design as the Item Emporium Dinosaur Egg Star Projector. The projector itself is dinosaur egg-shaped, and the outer is covered in a printed, textured, hard-wearing plastic that resembles a real egg. It’s very effective, and it feels premium to handle.
Better yet, the top of the ‘egg’ comes off, which reveals the projector inside. You’ll have to take this off if you want to use the projector, of course, but when it’s stood out of use, it looks seriously neat.
The entire egg stands on a base, separate from the unit, allowing it to be angled in a variety of ways. Place the egg upright if you want to project onto a ceiling, for example, or tilt it on its side if you want to project on a wall.

We’re very impressed with the quality of the projections of the Item Emporium Dinosaur Egg Star Projector. They’re fairly subtle, perfect for relaxing with. You can cycle between 14 different colors, all of which will create beautiful, relaxing ripple effects on your walls and ceilings. Given the fairly small size of the projection unit, the projections have a good reach, covering most of our bedroom ceiling.
You can, of course, adjust the projections to suit your needs. There are four different speeds available, along with different brightnesses, but you’ll need the remote control to change most settings.
Along with the nebula-like projections, you can also use the Item Emporium Dinosaur Egg Star Projector to project stars onto the ceiling. Unfortunately, it’s the same cheap green laser stars you’ll find in most budget star projectors, but you can at least turn them off if you’d simply rather focus on the colorful nebulas.

Along with lights, you can also use the Item Emporium Dinosaur Egg Star Projector to play music and sounds. You can connect your phone to the built-in Bluetooth speaker, though don’t expect the best quality music. It’s fine to play at low volumes, or to listen to an audiobook or podcast.
A neat feature is the star projector’s built-in white noise sounds. You can choose between 19 sounds, such as rain, a stream, a crackling fire and bird sounds. Some users might find these very useful to fall asleep to or to place in a child’s room to help them settle at night.

As we’ve already mentioned, the Item Emporium Dinosaur Egg Star Projector sets itself apart from other star projectors by having a built-in white noise sound machine. It can play various relaxing noises, designed to help users relax and fall asleep. It’s a nice touch, and, of course, you can also sync your music to it using the Bluetooth connection. It’s very easy to sync your device as the speaker automatically enters pairing mode when turned on.
You can control the most basic functions of the projector by using the three on-body buttons, but for most functions, including the sound machine and the built-in sleep timer, you’ll need the remote. It’s a compact little remote, but it feels better quality than most, although you’ll need to provide your own AAA batteries.
Should you buy the Item Emporium Dinosaur Egg Star Projector?
We’re very impressed with almost everything about the Item Emporium Dinosaur Egg Star Projector. Its design is simply wonderful, and we think it’ll be loved by kids and adults alike. It works very well, too, both as a star projector and as a music/sound player. The projections are relaxing and subtle, and even if they aren’t particularly scientific, they make the perfect ambience for falling asleep.
Our only concern is that many manufacturers are listing a ‘Dinosaur Egg Star Projector’ online. Even though most of them look alike, there’s no guarantee that you’ll get the same quality from one product to the next. So, just exercise caution if you decide to buy this star projector.
