‘It Hasn’t Been Good Since Season 8 or 9’: Rob Mac Gets Roasted After Proclaiming Season 17 of ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ As the ‘Best Ever’

A week and change after It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s Rob Mac found himself in the hot seat for chopping three syllables from his last name, the FXX star has given fans yet another reason to roast him: his questionable takes on his own show.

The actor formerly known as Rob McElhenney headed to Twitter with a bold proclamation about his now two-decade spanning series, claiming that whether we like it or not, the new season of Always Sunny is what peak performance looks like. “I think start to finish this is the best season of Sunny ever,” he bragged in a now-viral tweet shared roughly 30 minutes before the Season 17 premiere hit the airwaves last night.

Fans immediately called B.S. on Mac’s claim, arguing that — as Philly’s resident Rat King would put it —  there isn’t any science to support that, buddy. Not sure I put much stock in ur judgement at the moment Rob Mac,” wrote one fan referencing Mac’s name change, while a second added that they have a hard time believing” the actor’s assertion.

Evoking several skeptical GIF reactions — including one depicting Frank Reynolds’ iconic “you’re just mashing it” line — others took the opportunity to discuss when Always Sunny truly peaked. “Haha man it hasn’t been good since season 8-9,” a fan taunted.

“Your show started at season one and ended at season ten in my opinion,” another piled on. “Love those so much that I play them as background noise sometimes. After season ten though, not so much.”

It’s all par for the course these days for Mac. Last week, he left fans wondering why he shaved syllables from his last name, sparking speculation on everything from his teeth to his famous bestie Ryan Reynolds for fueling his admittedly “kinda douchey” rebrand

His veneers are taking over his body like the symbiote,” joked one fan while another added, “I don’t like Ryan Reynolds at all and now there’s 2 of them.”

“Ryan Reynolds release this man from your grasp,” a third begged.

And so, if Mac really believes this season of Always Sunny is its best, maybe he should just let the show do the talking for him.
