Of course, not to forget, the (old) man, myth and legend – MS Dhoni.

1. Quinton de Kock
After facing a failure to fire in KKR’s first game against RCB, de Kock bounced back with a 97-run knock in the next game against RR. His whirlwind knock set the stage for KKR to grab a convincing win against RR and open their account in IPL 2025. He occupies the opener’s role in our IPL 2025 team of the week.
2. Sai Sudharsan
The ever-dependable Sudharsan is our 2nd opener for this week’s XI. The GT opener scored 74 and 63 runs in the two games played by the team so far. The Tamil Nadu batter has provided the perfect start for GT on all occasions, thriving despite the failures of his partner and GT captain Shubman Gill.
3. Nicholas Pooran
Pooran has undoubteldy been the best number three batter across teams in the first week of IPL 2025. He has very well proved worthy of his Rs 21 crore retention price tag. With scores of 75 and 71, including the fastest fifty (18 deliveries) in the ongoing edition, the Caribbean star is a must-have in any playing XI.
4. Shreyas Iyer
The PBKS captain’s fine form across formats has now spilled into IPL 2025. In his very first game as the captain of a new franchise, he remained unbeaten on 97. What makes things sweeter is his team before individual mentality. While he could have easily made his way to a triple-figure score, he allowed his teammate Shashank Singh to go berserk in the final over and ensure PBKS ammassed a huge total against GT. Not to forget, Iyer is India’s best number 4 batter as proved in Champions Trophy as well.
5. Ashutosh Sharma
At number five is the prolific Ashutosh Sharma. He single handely won DC their IPL 2025 opener against LSG. His 66-run knock, in the nail-biting run-chase, with studded with 5 sixes and fours each. He stood tall as he steered Axar Patel and co. to a 1-wicket win against the Super Giants.
6. Aniket Verma
At number six is SRH’s Aniket Verma. In three matches so far in IPL 2025, he has scored 7, 36 and 74. The batter has kept up with the reputation of the fiery SRH side, performing when the likes of powerhouses like Head, Sharma and Ishan have failed to deliver.
7. Hardik Pandya
At number seven is MI captain Hardik Pandya. Despite missing the team’s IPL 2025 opener against CSK, the all-rounder proved his worth (with the ball) in the tie against GT. His spell of 2/29 from 4 overs saw him maintain an economy of 7.20, the least among the rest of his teammates. Purely due to his prowess with the ball, he deserves a spot in the team of the week.
8. Ravindra Jadeja
Another must-have all-rounder in the side is Jadeja. The CSK veteran has been impressive, more so with the ball, in the three games played so far. While he has not been a wicket-taking bowler, it is his economic spells of 0/21, 0/37 and 1/10 that makes him deserve a spot in the XI.
9. Mitchell Starc
Starc as aced his role as DC’s pace spearhead after moving to the side from KKR. In his very first game, he registered figures of 3/42. He followed it up with a five-wicket haul against SRH on Sunday. Despite being expensive, he has gotten his team the crucial breakthroughs needed.
10. Shardul Thakur
Having gone unsold in the IPL 2025 auction, Shardul has given a fitting response to naysayers with his performances with the ball so far. With 2/19 in his first game and a match-derailing 4/34 in the 2nd, the all-rounder has surely carried forward his fine form from the domestic season to IPL 2025.
11. Noor Ahmad
Dot ball king Noor Ahmad is number 11 on the list. Since making his debut for CSK, he has been their highest wicket-taker in IPL 2025. With spells of 4/18, 3/36 and 2/28, he has been Gaikwad’s go-to bowler, not only to take crucial wickets but also put the breaks on the opposition at any given time after the powerplay.
Impact player: MS Dhoni
If there was any player from week 1 who acted as an impact player despite being a part of the playing XI, it is none other than Dhoni. Given his ability to strike in the limited deliveries that he faces, there can be no better impact substitute from week one in the XI. In three matches, he has stayed unbeaten on 2 occasions, including a 0(2) and 30 (19).
